Yoga for Sciatica

There have been documented treatments for sciatica as far back as the 5th century and it’s still a common problem today. Studies indicate that up to 43% of people experience sciatic pain at some point in their lives. And a 2008 analysis of sciatic studies concluded that sciatic pain is more persistent, more severe and consumes more health resources than low back pain does!


The sciatic nerve is the longest in the body and can be affected at the low back and sacrum, or in the buttock and down the leg. Either way, it is painful and debilitating. And standard piriformis stretches, although helpful, may not be perfectly effective. 

We’ll talk about different causes for sciatic pain; practice a mindful, targeted yoga practice to overcome it; learn key actions in yoga poses to get results; learn some do’s and don’ts for sciatic relief and key poses to avoid; and an approach to long-term yoga practice for sciatica prevention.

Participants will get a printed yoga plan to take home with them.
