Bridget returns to Strongheart to guide us to a state of deep relaxation and meditation with the soothing sounds of her chakra-tuned crystal singing bowls. The chakras are the seven energy centers within us; each representing a specific body/mind energy. As we settle back comfortably and let the vibration wash over us, Bridget will use her beautiful bowls and skill as a practitioner to rinse away the tension that binds up those energy centers.
If you’ve been curious to learn more about yoga and/or yoga teaching, take this opportunity to stop by, meet our lead instructor Pattie McCann ERYT500. Sunday, August 17th & 24th / 1pm
Renee is a recent graduate of Strongheart’s 200HR Teacher Training Program. The best way to find your voice as a yoga teacher is to teach. So Renee is volunteering her time to offer some free yoga classes to everyone. It’s a win-win: she builds her confidence and you get a sweet break on a summer afternoon.
Renee had already gotten reviews from students when she taught classes to complete her coursework. Everyone was agreed—-”she has a beautiful, calming voice; she puts you at ease; the pace is good; and she makes it feel like a safe place where you just do what you can.” Come and see for yourself.
Everybody is welcome! Register here or just come over on Sunday.

We’ve invited them to send a representative to tell us a little more about their program and all that they do.
Jake is a Strongheart Teacher Trainee, who has finished his class work and is now offering these classes to get some practical teaching experience. Come and let him teach you and give him an in-person review (he’ll appreciate it). Bring a friend.
STRONGHEART ANNIVERSARY TOAST
Saturday, June 7th / 7:30pm / FREE
Let’s share a toast to 14 years after Bridget brings us to a beautiful, relaxed state. We’ll provide some sparkling cider (with & without alcohol), some chocolate treats (to ground us after the sound bath), & some quick savory bites and take a little time to enjoy our beautiful space and the people who make it so welcoming.
Karen and Pattie, both yoga teachers who like to get their hands in the dirt, are collecting ideas for how to grow nourishing wonderful food in small spaces. Michelle is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and she’s adding her expertise in nutrient-dense foods that are the recipe for good health. Together we’re excited to share a fun learning day at the beginning of the growing season for all of us to know more, grow more, and find our vibrant health recipe.
Whether it’s your mother or another someone who nurtures you, we want to help you express your love and gratitude. So for the entire week, Sunday - Saturday, you can bring your best woman with you as your guest and ours!
Register for the class for yourself and they can practice with you for free. Just see the teacher at the desk to sign them in.
Tuning into Muladhara Chakra (our root chakra) is about feeling the strong, supportive connection of the ground beneath our feet. We’ll practice to bring our awareness to how we grow like trees by beginning at our roots. No experience necessary. Free or by donation (for the Nature Conservancy).
Our Easter morning class will be a celebration of the reawakening we see in the world around us and feel in ourselves as the warmer days arrive. We’ll practice a gentle awakening flow of movement to get everything moving and release the doldrums of winter. Free or by donation (to the Nature Conservancy).
Award winning Australian musicians (14 x music awards in 4 countries) and sound healers: Peter D. Harper and Bobbi Llewellyn-Harper will bring us a workshop about the ancient Australian Aboriginal wind instrument called the “Didgeridoo” (Yidaki / Mako), followed by a sound bathing experience. Register early!
Bring your “good but not getting used” over to the studio and after Jen Senyk’s class on Sunday morning we’ll swap treasures while we have some chai or coffee.
We’ll donate anything that doesn’t get claimed to Turning Point Macomb’s Second Hand Rose.
This class is designed to help you create and teach chair yoga classes that are effective, accessible, and safe for different levels of students. The focus will be on using your knowledge and creativity. Working in person, in our studio, gives you a chance to see and feel the poses, ask questions as they arise, and hear what fellow students ask or add.
This course will qualify for a Certificate of Completion & 6 hours of CEU for Yoga Alliance registered teachers.
Our hips, knees, and feet are all working together, all the time. We’ll focus on improving our foot strength, learning healthy knee movement, and finding ways to keep our muscles of movement (big and small) strong, stable, and mobile.
Anyone is welcome to practice for free. If you’re able to make a donation, proceeds from this class will be donated to Sierra Club Foundation/ Detroit ICO.
Winter invites us to stay curled up and cozy. This movement class is designed to cycle out any energy that may have become stagnant. We’ll check in with our bodies. Then we’ll end with a short sound meditation to allow anything that’s shifted to settle back in.
Jennifer Medina is a favorite former teacher and sound practitioner at Strongheart. We were sorry to see her go when she moved out of state. We’ve missed her! So we’re happy to have her back for this special practice while she visits Michigan for a weekend.
$25 per person. Space is limited. Register early to save your space!
In honor of February 14th, we thought we’d celebrate togetherness for all—friends or romantic partners. Our connections sustain us and make life worthwhile, so let’s celebrate unity with yoga! Grab your partner or a yoga buddy and come have some fun. Everyone is welcome. Price per Duo is $30.
Partner yoga is a great way to enhance and enliven your practice with the spirit of play! Regain your childlike nature, let go, and enjoy life through movement, breath, and touch. The leverage and assistance gained by having a trusted partner can help take you deeper into poses with less effort.
You may have seen some high-flying acro-yoga poses around the internet. This class will not be that! We’ll practice poses that are available to everyone. You might bring along a partner who has never tried yoga and let them experience some FUN yoga. You might bring someone who you practice alongside often and bring some laughter and lightheartedness to your yoga. The only requirement is a willingness to enjoy!
For 40 days, beginning Wednesday, January 15 until Monday, February 24, you can pick up a Challenge Book and we’ll stamp it every time you practice. At the end of the challenge we’ll give you a coupon good for 10% off for every 10 stamps.
Bridget, a Strongheart favorite, will bring her chakra-tuned bowls to recalibrate our nervous systems, allowing us to set our intentions for the coming year with minds in harmony. Early registration strongly encouraged!
A peaceful quiet practice to welcome the Christmas evening and day of festivities. If your day has been busy with last minute holiday details, give yourself an hour to tune in and fill your own cup with quiet energy.
The Bhagavad Gita is a renowned spiritual classic and one of the world’s most translated books. We’ll split our discussion into two parts, so there’s time to read between classes. This will qualify for 4 hours of Continuing Education Credit for yoga teachers.
Finding a technique of meditation that works for you and the ways that best relax and prepare you, can make all the difference. We’ll explore the elements of meditation and practice different techniques so participants begin to find what can work in their personal practice.
Attendance at both sessions isn’t a requirement, but different material will be covered in each.
Come explore our Advanced Trainings at our Open House! All are welcome.

Dharma Talks & Community Meditation with Pattie McCann ERYT
Sunday Evenings in August / 6pm to 6:45 - 7pm / August 4 (in person & virtual), 11, 18, 25 (virtual only)
FREE
Yoga is as much about sparking our deeper insight, imagination, and inspiration for life as it is about moving our bodies into any shape. With yoga philosophy and wisdom as a guide, Pattie will begin a discussion about how it applies to the lives we’re living and experiencing now.
From a brief description of a little yogic knowledge (20 minutes or less), everyone will be encouraged to share their own insights on the chosen topic. From there we’ll move into a meditation together.
We’ll encourage everyone to share their thoughts and experiences, so our time may vary slightly. We’ll allow 15 minutes to settle into stillness and meditation and finish the evening by 7pm at the latest.
Our first Dharma Talk on August 4th will be hybrid, so anyone can join us in the studio or from the comfort of home. Our topic for August 4th will be: Yoga & Our Difficult Emotions.
The following weeks will be Livestream virtual meetings.
Everyone is welcome to join these free community discussions. Every voice is valuable!

With special guest Bridget McCloskey-Baird — In this class, Bridget will use Chakra-Tuned Quartz Crystal Bowls to connect with each chakra's essence, bringing alignment and balance to the entire body. Sound Healing also recalibrates our nervous systems and brings the mind to a state of harmony through the healing frequencies of each bowl. $25
We’ll dive deeper into the psychophysical-spiritual energy of each chakra; the practices that enliven them; and the ways our practice can bring awareness and freedom to our inner energies.
This class is open to all: teachers, future teachers, or just those looking to expand their knowledge. These hours can be applied to the Strongheart Yoga Deepen Your Practice 50HR or 200HR Teacher Training schedule to begin in September. And will qualify for 3 contact CEUs with Yoga Alliance.
Come and find your own warrior’s heart. We’ll seek our own inner courage with our practice, as we honor those whose courage gave us peace and freedom. Walk-ins welcome, preregistration encouraged.
Come join us as we celebrate 13 years of Strongheart and the opening of City Yoga Warren. Both of the sister studios will be open to everyone. Enjoy light refreshments, a fun activity, and our vibrant community. All are welcome.
Sandra Aloia will dedicate this Sunday evening practice to what we all have in common—our source of life. You might share this gentle practice with your mother or ask someone who calls you Mom to come share the practice. Or you might just take this quiet evening to contemplate the power and influence of your first human connection, whether she’s with you or not.
