People often consider taking a yoga teacher training just to learn more about yoga—the ideas, the philosophy, the lifestyle, or the purpose and finer points of the postures. These short weekly get-togethers are little samplers of some of that. You can learn and ask questions.  If you’ve ever considered taking a training, this is a way to get your feet wet. If you’ve wanted to know a little more without signing on to an entire course, this is a way to do that.

This is the last of a series of weekly learning satsangs, but you can join in even if you haven't caught the other Fridays. This week: Patanjali and The 8 Limbs of Yoga.
 

Patanjali is a renowned ancient yogi who famously said, “Yoga is that by which we still the fluctuations of the mind.” And then he compiled the learning of yoga and laid out the steps to that goal in the Yoga Sutras. His 8 Limbs included asana, pranayama, and stage of meditation, but also the Yamas and Niyamas—-observances for how we relate to our world, and disciplines that enrich our relationship to ourselves. 
 

Let’s talk about how we bring Patanjali’s observances and disciplines—kindness, truthfulness, contentment, self-inquiry, etc—into our lives and why it matters.
Join this one-hour class for a deeper dive into the philosophy of yoga, or as a sample for what you might find in Strongheart's 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (registration dates announced soon!).
